Synopsis: Jennifer (Leelee Sobieski) is a rebellious goth girl in need of a job who becomes fascinated with Randall (Albert Brooks), the straight-laced owner of a clothing store more than thirty years her senior.
Kitty Cameo: Early in the film Jennifer enjoys the privacy of her room where she dances to punk music, eats chocolate, watches classic family sitcoms and holds her black cat named, appropriately, Black.
Even though Black is mentioned during the film, he or she only appears one more time near the end as Jennifer is placing mementos into a box while crying. Black is nearby to offer her comfort.
The animal trainer on the film was Paul ‘Sled’ Reynolds with Gentle Jungle. According to the American Humane Association’s website the cat actor and actress Leelee Sobieski took an instant liking to each other.
Final Mewsings: Cats are there for us both in good times and in bad.
Many thanks to Nick Wale and Mark Murton for letting us know about the cat in this film.
