Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: A bizarre little musical send up of detective plays and movies in which Philo Holmes (Charles Judels) and his partner Watson (Franklin Pangborn) try to solve the murder of a wealthy man while accompanied by a bevy of showgirls and a band.

Purr Blur: The very first scene of this film is inside the Willoughby Manor where we see a selection of suspects right before the crime.  One man is seen walking up the stairs, looking suspicious.  It’s hard to make out but there is a black cat on his shoulder.

Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): When Philo Holmes is trying to figure out who the murderer is, the maid accuses this same man of having done the crime because she saw him by the clock where the murder took place.  The man explains in song how he has a thing for cats and goes to the clock to give everyone a shock.  He returns carrying a turban which he shows the showgirls.  It turns out to be full of mostly black kittens!

Final Mewsings: Kittens make a great alibi!
