The teacher suggests the pet shop man, but the man tells the boy that Boxer is going to die. There is at least one cat in the pet shop.

After Boxer dies, the boy and his friends are outside his house when they hear a noise. They realize Tabby has had kittens.

They watch Tabby lick the kittens. No one draws any attention to the fact she has apparently had her kittens on the front lawn and they are kind of just strewn around.
