Synopsis: Having left active service, James Bond (Daniel Craig) is living a quiet life in Jamaica, but his peace is short lived when an old CIA friend, Felix Leiter, arrives asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist sets Bond on the trail of a mysterious villain armed with a deadly new technology.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) takes Bond to see Q (Ben Whishaw) at his apartment where he is busy preparing food for an expected date. Heard before it’s seen, Q’s cat is a vocal Sphynx who is eventually revealed sitting on the table as Q goes to answer the door.
Q is less than delighted to see it is Bond and Moneypenny on the doorbell camera and by the time he has granted them access the cat has arrived at his feet.
Q picks the cat up and places it on the stairs, which it quickly ascends, before he opens the door.
By the time Bond and Moneypenny come into the apartment, the cat is back sitting on the table.
The increasingly flustered Q places plates and cutlery onto the table then picks up the cat as Bond deadpans, “You know, they come with fur these days” (which is presumably why a Sphynx was cast as Q’s cat). The joke delivered, the cat is sadly forgotten after Q kisses the kitty and sets it outside.
Final Mewsings: When will they stop making fun of hairless cats in movies?
