Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Ex-CIA operative Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) is pulled back into the thick of a complicated web of political intrigue which finds him being targeted by his former protégé Mason (Luke Bracey).
Featured Feline: Mason lives in an apartment building and in one scene he returns home. As he opens the door a long-haired gray and white cat sneaks past his feet into the apartment.
The cat jumps up on Mason’s kitchen counter (or is rather tossed onto the counter by someone off-screen).
Mason picks up the cat and carries it to the apartment door across from his. He knocks on the door and waits for an answer.
The door is answered by a woman named Sarah (Eliza Taylor). She sees the cat in her neighbor’s arms and sighs, “Oh Smokey!” “I think this belongs to you,” Mason jokes.
Apparently Smokey has a habit of sneaking into Mason’s apartment. Sarah comments that Smokey likes it better with him than with her. She asks Mason in for coffee but he declines.
Later in the film, Smokey once again sneaks into Mason’s apartment and he picks her up.
Mason takes Smokey over to Sarah’s apartment again and she apologizes. This leads to Mason and Sarah going out which does not end well.
Final Mewsings: Don’t automatically trust your cat’s judgment when it comes to dating prospects.
