Synopsis: Young Steve runs away from home, having argued with his father, and hides in a slate mine where his friend Paul finds him and brings him back. However, on returning to their village the two boys find the place completely deserted.

Kitty Cameo: Steve and Paul are unaware that the village has been evacuated due to the danger of an explosion at a nearby power station. The sole sign of life being a white cat with black markings running across the road.
