Ooh . . . You Are Awful (1972)

Also Known As: Get Charlie Tully

Directed by: Cliff Owen

Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Conmen Charley Tully (Dick Emery) and his partner Reggie Peek (Ronald Fraser) bite off more than they can chew when they steal a large amount of money from the wrong men.

Kitty Cameo: Throughout the film Charley is trying to locate the stolen money while a former associate of Peek named Sabbath (Derren Nesbitt) is trying to kill him. The two Italian men who were robbed in the first place, Mancini (John Louis Mansi) and Mafioso (Frank Coda) actually protect Tully until such time as they can deliver him to their Mafia boss. In one instance, a faux milkman (Reg Lye) is sent to Tully’s flat to leave a milk bottle bomb. Mancini and Mafioso are sitting nearby with a tuxedo cat.

They listen as the milkman leaves the explosive milk bottle.

As Mancini switches the milk bottle bomb with a normal bottle, Mafioso releases the cat while knocking over a garbage can, effectively distracting the fake milkman. (Note that this cat doesn’t seem to have nearly as much white as the one being held earlier!)

Final Mewsings: Cats can be very handy when switching bombs for bottles.

Many thanks to Mark Murton for letting us know about the cat in this film!
