Cat Out Of The Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film.

Synopsis: Teacher Sarah Francis (Beattie Edmondson) is a young woman whose life is a bit of a mess. The last thing she needs is someone else to look after. Yet, like it or not, her Grandmother has bequeathed her a very spoiled pug called Patrick.

Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): At the wake / will reading, Patrick encounters the Francis family’s white Persian cat, Snowy.

A chase ensues (note that in parts of this the cat is actually just a bit of fluff shaped like a cat!) . . .

. . . ending when Patrick turns his attention to attacking one of the mourners hats while Snowy looks on.

Snowy eventually takes refuge in the tree house in the garden.

Having been evicted from her no-pets flat for having a dog, Sarah is staying on a house boat. Walking Patrick one evening, he spots a tabby cat on another boat.

Patrick attempts to confront the cat only for the boat between him and the tabby to pull away and carry him off down the river.

With Patrick still missing, Sarah returns home for her father’s birthday. Unaware of Patrick’s absence, Snowy keeps his distance on the lawn.

Finally managing to get back on the river bank, Patrick races back to Sarah. En route he sees the tabby cat on the boat again. After briefly considering attempting another confrontation, Patrick carries on his way.

The animals in this film were supplied and trained by Birds & Animals UK. The head animal trainer was Julie Tottman with animal trainers Collette McKenzie & Joanna Vaughan.

Final Mewsings: A dog film is only as good as the cat(s) in it.
