English Title: Nosferatu the Vampyre
Gaumont
Starring: Klaus Kinski, Isabelle Adjani, Bruno Ganz
Directed by: Werner Herzog
Synopsis: A retelling of the horror tale Dracula finds the Count (Klaus Kinski) traveling to England to pursue the neck he desires.
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): During the opening credits of the film, two adorable tabby and white kittens are seen on a china cabinet shelf playing with a locket.
The cabinet is in the home of Jonathan Harker (Bruno Ganz) and his wife Lucy (Isabelle Adjani). Harker is preparing to leave and sets his cup down near the kittens.
Later Harker returns to tell Lucy about his assignment in Transylvania. Lucy is holding the two kittens in her lap when he enters.
She sets one of the kittens on a table but continues to hold the other one as she receives the news.
Lucy has a bad feeling and does not want her husband to go. The kitten looks like it is falling asleep in her arms, at least until the couple embrace with the kitten between them.
Purr Blur: Later when Dracula has arrived in England, Lucy is called to Mina’s house urgently. As she runs down the street, a black cat runs ahead of her.
Final Mewsings: Harker was lucky the kittens didn’t knock his cup off the cabinet!
