Synopsis: Brother and sister David (Tobey Maguire) and Jennifer (Reese Witherspoon) find themselves transported to the squeaky-clean black and white world of the television sitcom Pleasantville.
Kitty Cameo: As the siblings debate about their situation they walk down a suburban street. A fire truck suddenly pulls up across from them and the firemen leap out of the vehicle and prop a ladder against a tree. One fireman then climbs the ladder and proceeds to rescue a long-haired cat.
Moments later they see the fireman hand the cat to a woman. The running joke in the film is that there are never any fires in this perfect world and so the fire department does nothing but rescue cats from trees.
This may very possibly be a film appearance by cat actor Elvis who worked prolifically in the 1990s.
Final Mewsings: If it were really a perfect world cats wouldn’t get stuck in trees!
