Starring: Tommy ‘Butch’ Bond, Darla Hood
Directed by: George Sidney
Synopsis: The Gang try to find out who is playing a bunch of nasty pranks on them and when they find out it is Butch they set out to get revenge.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Spanky, Alfalfa, Buckwheat and Porky meet Darla as she pushes a baby carriage down the sidewalk. Inside is a manx tabby cat she calls Baby. Baby is wearing a baby bonnet and licking the milk from a baby bottle. “If she doesn’t get her fresh air in the morning, she’s sleepy all day,” Darla explains.
After hearing about the practical jokes being played on the boys, Darla sympathizes. Alfalfa assures her they will find the culprit because they have Rover, their dog, to help them. Rover jumps up and looks into the carriage. Baby reacts by meowing and then hissing.
Finally Baby darts from the carriage and runs away.
The kids take chase but Alfalfa stops to pull on what looks like the tail of a kite. It’s another one of Butch’s tricks and Alfalfa is covered with flour. They then overhear Butch and Darla as Butch is giving her back her cat.
Darla deduces that Butch is the one pulling all the pranks on the Gang. Butch dons a fake nose and does a Jimmy Durante impression, all the while Darla is holding Baby the cat.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t care for practical jokes or playing dress up.
