Synopsis: Rachel Cameron (Joanne Woodward) is a meek middle-aged school teacher living in a small town with her widowed mother (Kate Harrington). But Rachel starts to have the nagging feeling that something is missing from her life.
Purr Blur: In one scene Rachel and her mother are playing cards outside their home, the funeral parlor where the late Mr. Cameron worked. Hector (Frank Corsaro), the new owner of the business, pulls up in his hearse and talks to the women from the driveway. As he’s talking, an orange cat can barely be seen walking behind the hearse.
Kitty Cameo: Later Rachel is spending time at the home of a childhood acquaintance named Nick (James Olson). They are seen sitting on a front porch and Rachel is holding a black cat in her lap as she rocks in a rocking chair.
Invited inside by Nick, Rachel sets the cat down and follows him.
The cat is later seen sitting on the rocking chair, rocking slightly, as nighttime falls.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t need people in chairs to rock!
