Music Artist: Baby Lasagna
Starring: Stipe, Gertruda
Directed by: Elizabeta Ružić
Synopsis: A music video for the Eurovision song entry representing Croatia.
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): The song is about the economic emigration of young Croatians and finds musician Marko Purišić (aka Baby Lasagna) singing and dancing around his rural homeland as he prepares to leave. At one point he sings the words, “Bye mom, bye dad . . . Meow cat, please meow back,” while an older woman is making lasagna noodles. A one-eyed ginger cat named Stipe is on hand during this scene.
Another gray and white cat, which appears to be Gertruda (another one of Baby Lasagna’s cats), has a brief appearance.
The popularity of the song, and in particular the line about the cat, even inspired a children’s book to be published called Baby Lasagna and Stipe the cat — A Great Friendship.
Baby Lasagna and his girlfriend (the video’s director) reportedly own three cats; Stipe, Gertruda and Branka (a tabby). You can watch Marko talk about his cats (and the full music video) below:
Final Mewsings: Cats and lasagna? Garfield would love this artist!
