Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: After an ugly break-up with her boyfriend, Allison Jones (Bridget Fonda) finds a friend in her new roommate Hedra (Jennifer Jason Leigh), not realizing the danger that awaits.
Featured Feline: Allison’s upstairs neighbor is Graham (Peter Friedman), an actor who owns a large long-haired ginger cat named Carmen. Graham asks Allison if she can cat-sit early in the film but we first see Carmen when Allison seeks Graham’s advice about Hedra’s increasingly disturbing behavior. Carmen is sitting on a nearby chair and Graham picks up the cat.
Graham carries Carmen with him as he walks Allison to the door.
Unfortunately for Graham, he later hears a noise which he thinks is Carmen but is actually Hedra lurking in his apartment. She attacks him. In a later scene, Carmen is seen skittering into the bathroom after Hedra walks out, having taken a shower. Hedra is holding Allison prisoner in Graham’s apartment.
We last see Carmen cuddled up on Graham’s shoulder in the bathtub where the man is lying unconscious.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t desert us even when we are attacked by psycho chicks.
