Synopsis: A diabolical carnival arrives on the outskirts of a small town in 1940s America. Its demonic proprietor, Mr. Dark (Jonathan Pryce), preys on the townsfolk, granting them their heart’s desires but with dark consequences. It falls to two twelve year-old friends, Will Halloway (Vidal Peterson) and Jim Nightshade (Shawn Carson), to put an end to Dark’s deeds.
Kitty Cameo: Mrs. Nightshade (Diane Ladd), Jim’s mother, who seems to have taken to her bed after being left by her husband, takes solace in the company of her longhair tabby cat.
One night, with Jim asleep in his bed Mrs. Nightshade enters his room carrying the cat which she then drops onto the bed as she closes the window.
Final Mewsings: Cats would rather face something wicked than a clinging woman.
