Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A newly single mother named Maggie (Melissa McCarthy) and her son Oliver (Jaeden Lieberher) move next door to a cantankerous, seemingly misanthropic man named Vincent (Bill Murray) who may offer more than one would first think.
Featured Feline: Vincent owns a white Persian cat named Felix who is seen many times throughout the film.
Vincent is affectionate towards the cat and feeds him good food even while living on a budget.
When Oliver comes over he connects with the cat. Vincent notes that Felix usually doesn’t like people who say they get along well with animals.
One of the most touching moments of the film is when Oliver smuggles Felix into the hospital where Vincent is staying.
When Daka (Naomi Watts) comes to care for Vincent she interacts with Felix, telling him to get away from the vegetables she’s prepared.
Felix was played by cat actors Teddy and Jagger.
There is also a clip from the Abbott and Costello film Africa Screams featuring a tabby kitten.
Final Mewsings: Don’t underestimate a man who is loved by a cat.
