Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: An updated version of The Little Match Girl finds Baby Peggy wandering the snowy streets selling her wares.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In one scene Baby Peggy is sitting on the snowy sidewalk when she sees a black cat in the street.
She runs out to play with the kitty but a big, fancy automobile knocks her to the ground next to the cat.
Baby Peggy gets up and tells off the driver, who is a rich woman. The woman berates Baby Peggy but Baby Peggy gives it right back to her. A street urchin (Tommy Wonder) notices that Baby Peggy loves the doll the rich woman’s daughter is carrying, and so he brings her a rag doll he finds in the trash. The black cat is standing behind them.
After receiving the doll, Baby Peggy makes a face at the rich daughter. A close up of the black cat with a white patch beneath its chin is then seen.
Purr Blur: Late in the short Baby Peggy has managed to crash a birthday party for the rich daughter when the house catches on fire. In a quick shot the family’s servant is seen running from the home carrying a cage that contains a black cat.
Final Mewsings: Street cats and kids don’t take no crap from no one!
