Starring: Margaret O’Brien, Angela Lansbury, George Murphy
Directed by: Roy Rowland
Synopsis: Flavia Mills (Margaret O’Brien) is a clever little girl who is well-loved in her Tenth Avenue neighborhood in New York, but life deals her a series of blows when she realizes that little girls are not always told the truth about everything and that life isn’t all happiness and sunshine.
Kitty Cameo: Flavia believes her mother when she tells the girl that mice turn into money so her daughter won’t be afraid of them. Flavia catches a mouse in a cigar box and takes it to an alley where she hopes to hide it away until the mouse changes. As she walks into the alley she passes a cat sitting on a metal drum.
She is about to hide the box behind some stuff when she eyes the cat worriedly. The cat just sits looking at her without seeming too interested in what she’s doing.
Flavia decides to remove some bricks from a window sill and places the box inside to keep the mouse safe from the cat. As she does this she eyes the cat again but says nothing directly to the feline.
Final Mewsings: Cat mothers probably tell their kittens that money will turn into mice!
