Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Divorcing couple Lucy (Irene Dunne) and Jerry Warriner (Cary Grant) find that their jealousy rages on even after their separation and they continually attempt to sabotage the other’s attempts to find happiness with new romantic partners.
Kitty Cameo: When one thinks of this classic comedy the first animal that comes to mind would be Mr. Smith, the wire-haired terrier played by cinema canine star Skippy (best known for his role as Asta in The Thin Man series.) But in the final scenes of the film there is a black cat featured well-worth mentioning, since it plays a cute role in the story’s conclusion. When Lucy and Jerry find themselves staying in her aunt’s cabin with a connecting door, Lucy finds a cat sitting on her bed and shooes it away.
Both Lucy and Jerry look for excuses throughout the evening to be together, but when Jerry attempts to get the door to open with the wind the cat is blocking the other side.
Final Mewsings: Cats make good doorstops.
