Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: In his unrelenting and obsessive drive for success, ruthless and powerful Hollywood movie producer Jonathan Shields (Kirk Douglas) abuses the trust and friendship of talented director Fred Amiel (Barry Sullivan), emotionally fragile actress Georgia Lorrison (Lana Turner), and mildly cynical college professor-turned-screenwriter James Lee Bartlow (Dick Powell). Shields burns a lot of bridges during his career, but what will he receive as his ultimate comeuppance?
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): A complacent and slightly smug James Lee Bartlow strolls the town square of the small college town where he teaches, ending up at the bookstore where his recent bestseller The Proud Land is prominently displayed in the front window. Lounging in front of the stacks of Bartlow’s books is the receptive and active shop tabby cat.
Final Mewsings: All bookstores should feature at least one shop cat.
