Synopsis: The Clampetts again visit Hooterville in this crossover episode with the series Petticoat Junction.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): When Granny (Irene Dunne), Jed (Buddy Ebsen) and Elly May (Donna Douglas) arrive in Hooterville they stop at Sam Drucker’s (Frank Cady) General Store. There they meet a farmer named Howard Hewes (Guy Raymond) who owns the local airstrip. As they are talking, Elly May turns around and exclaims, “Oh, Mr. Drucker! You got a new cat!” “Yeah! I call her Marmalade,” Mr. Drucker replies. Elly May runs over and picks up a beautiful calico cat from a nearby table. “Howdy there, Marmalade! You sure are pretty!” Elly May exclaims. Marmalade meows a pretty little meow (dubbed in).
After more conversation the Cannonball train whistle blows and Elly May announces, “There’s our train for the Shady Rest!”
She then offers to go down and flag down the Cannonball. She sets Marmalade back on the table. The cat does not appear again in this episode or in Petticoat Junction ever again.
Final Mewsings: Cats like Marmalade deserve more than a one time appearance!
