Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Granny (Irene Ryan) tries to sabotage Cousin Pearl Bodine’s (Bea Benaderet) yodeling practice by sicking both dogs and the police on her.
Cinema Cat: Orangey returns in this episode as the Clampett’s cat Rusty. This time around Elly has taught him and a pigeon how to be friends and they walk into the scene together, the pigeon riding on the cat’s back.
Elly pets Rusty as she praises them for getting along. “Everybody can be friends if they just try. And you two are friends now. Just remember, Rusty, folks don’t eat their friends.” She then encourages them to show Granny their friendship and so Rusty continues walking.
Granny has been busy tasting her “rheumatism medicine” she has made with her still when the cat and bird walk by. “When I commence to seeing birds ridin’ horseback on cats, that’s enough tastin’!” All of the animals on the series were trained by Frank Inn who was Orangey’s owner.
Final Mewsings: Cats could be Uber for birds!
