Paramount Pictures
Starring: Jack Oakie, George Burns, Gracie Allen
Directed by: Norman Taurog
Synopsis: The second in the series of Big Broadcast films which showcases film, stage and radio stars of the day. In this installment, the entertainment segments are assembled around a far-out plot in which Jack Oakie plays an on-air lothario who hopes to win a broadcasting competition to keep his station WHY afloat.
Purr Blur: Jack Oakie’s on-air character is named Lochinvar the Great Lover. He woos women over the radio airwaves with his sweet talk. A montage of listeners are seen swooning as he speaks. One of these is a maid (Mildred Gover) who is pouring milk as she stands listening dreamily. The milk is spilling over and the camera cuts to the floor where a tiny kitten is lapping it up. The kitten is only seen onscreen for a couple of seconds.
Final Mewsings: A cat has never cried over spilt milk.
