The Body Stealers (1969)

by Mark Murton

Also Known As: Invasion of the Body Stealers; Thin Air

Directed by: Gerry Levy

Synopsis: In this tepid British sci-fi the bodies of paratroopers are disappearing in mid-air, leading investigators to uncover an alien plot.

Purr Blur: In the unexciting conclusion, while looking for her colleague Dr. Matthews, Dr. Julie Slade (Hilary Dwyer) goes to his house. She calls to him but getting no reply she starts to search the property. Descending some stairs she is startled by something out of shot which an accompanying poor cat screech identifies as a cat. Thankfully we are treated to a brief shot of the fluffy torbie from Julie’s point of view as the kitty wanders casually away and towards the basement.

Final Mewsings: Cats should be both seen and heard!

Many thanks to Nick Wale for also spotting the cat in this film.
