Original Title: The Boys From County Clare
Director: John Irvin
Synopsis: Musician Jimmy McMahon (Colm Meaney) returns home to Ireland from Liverpool to compete in a traditional Celtic music competition and encounters his estranged brother John Joe (Bernard Hill). It’s not long before bitter rivalries resurface and long-hidden secrets are revealed.
Kitty Cameo: John Joe lives alone at the family farm with only a ginger and white tabby cat for company. Arriving home at night he gives the cat a friendly greeting (which sounds like Sunny Cat) and scoops the kitty up in his arms . . .
. . . only to toss it outside with a “Go and piss on your own bed, you mouldy whore!”
The next morning the cat is waiting on the doorstep and runs inside as soon as John Joe opens the door.
Final Mewsings: Even farm cats prefer to sleep indoors.
