The Brutalist (2024)

by Linda Kay

Directed by: Brady Corbet

Synopsis: Noted architect László Tóth (Adrien Brody) flees war ravaged Europe for America only to find himself alienated from society and abused by wealthy “benefactor” Harrison Lee Van Buren Sr. (Guy Pearce).

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): After an overnight binge of jazz, drugs and blue movies, László stumbles out into the morning street where he is greeted by a tabby and white cat, which he picks up and cradles.

Walking down the street, László drops the cat but the kitty continues to follow him. When they reach a limo, the driver says he is there to pick up László. The cat does not accompany him on the ride to the Van Buren mansion.

Final Mewsings: László would have been better off if he’d just stayed with the cat.
