Directed by: Peter Strickland
Synopsis: Day in and day out, lovers Cynthia (Sidse Babett Knudsen) and Evelyn (Chiara D’Anna) enact an elaborate sadomasochistic fantasy as mistress and maid. But as their ritual of domination and submission begins to turn stale, Cynthia yearns for something more conventional, while Evelyn tries to push the boundaries even further.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Their liaisons take place at Cynthia’s residence where she owns a seal point Siamese cat. The first time we see Evelyn arrive at the house the cat is sitting on an ornate sofa.
The same scenario is repeated another day, the only difference being that the cat is facing the opposite direction.
The cat is seen sitting on Cynthia’s bed in later scenes.
And also lying on top of a rather pivotal chest in the bedroom.
The animal handler for the film was Bendeguz Koroczi.
Final Mewsings: Cats would prefer not to witness the fetishes of their humans.
