Synopsis: Lawyer Erin Bruner (Laura Linney) becomes involved in a case in which a priest is charged with the murder of a girl named Emily Rose (Jennifer Carpenter) after performing an exorcism on the girl.
Cat Cattle Call: At the beginning of the film we see Dr. Mueller (Kenneth Welsh) approaching a remote farmhouse. He notices a couple of cats running around in the snow nearby.
Later Erin goes to the house to talk to Emily’s mother. As she sits in the living room, three cats are present. The scene opens with a close up of a tabby cat hissing.
Erin is unsettled by the farmhouse and the cats. Emily’s mother explains that they have eleven cats, since Emily couldn’t stand to leave any strays homeless. The woman also pushes a tabby cat off the coffee table.
Final Mewsings: There are times cats don’t mind staying outside in the cold.
