Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Freshman college student Harold Lamb (Harold Lloyd) is eager to impress his fellow students with his peppy manner and enthusiasm. Unfortunately he becomes the butt of the students’ jokes and doesn’t realize they are actually making fun of him behind his back, especially when he thinks he has made the football team.
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): When Harold arrives at the school’s auditorium where the Dean’s speech is to take place he accidentally enters via the stage. A tiny kitten has somehow climbed to a ledge high above.
The mama cat meows below, worried for her kitten.
Harold climbs onto a small table and reaches up to rescue the kitten.
Seeing this, some students decide to open the curtains, revealing Harold holding the kitten to the auditorium full of students, who break into laughter.
With no where else to put the kitten, Harold stashes it under his sweater. The mama cat sees her baby’s tail sticking out from beneath.
Harold tries to leave the stage but the students in the wings insist he must make a speech. During his speech the mama cat approaches Harold looking for her baby.
Harold fidgets as the mama cat meows and the kitten crawls around inside his sweater. Finally the kitten pokes its tiny head out through the neck.
Harold pulls the kitten from his collar and places it on the ground where it follows mama away.
At the end of the scene Harold offers to buy the few students in the wings some ice cream. As they leave the auditorium the crowd of kids being treated grows and grows. The crowd is seen walking away and we see the mama cat and kitten also following along for some ice cream.
Final Mewsings: Harold Lloyd with a kitten in his collar looks like a medical experiment gone horribly wrong!
