Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Starring: Alice Faye, James Ellison, Charlotte Greenwood
Directed by: Busby Berkeley
Synopsis: Against her better judgement, singer and dancer Edie Allen (Alice Faye) falls for the handsome soldier Andy Mason (James Ellison) before he ships out. Things get complicated when she learns that he also has a childhood sweetheart waiting for him.
Kitty Cameo: Near the beginning of the film Andy spots his dad, along with Mr. Peyton Potter (Edward Everett Horton), the father of his girlfriend, in a nightclub. He calls his girlfriend’s house where her mother, Mrs. Potter, is sleeping on a lounge chair with a copy of Variety over her face. A white Persian cat is sitting on the table between her and the phone.
She sleepily reaches for the phone and ends up picking up the cat by the scruff. She then puts the cat to her ear and shouts, “Hello?” before realizing her mistake.
With a scream Mrs. Potter drops the cat on the floor and reaches for the phone again. The cat is not seen again in the film.
Final Mewsings: Cats will not relay messages over long distance no matter how loudly you shout.
