Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: An English language remake of the Quebec film La grande séduction finds a small fishing village going to extreme lengths to fool a young doctor into taking up residency with them.
Kitty Cameo: A man named Murray French (Brendan Gleeson) is one of the main conspirators in the deception. At the beginning of the film he is dreaming about when he was a boy in the village, sitting on the roof of his home, meowing. Murray wakes up suddenly to find his orange and white tabby cat lying on his chest, purring.
Murray’s wife Barbara (Cathy Jones) is lying next to him and mutters, “Murray, stop bugging the cat.”
The cat, who is never named, is seen twice after this. One while eating some food from a plate on the floor.
The other when Murray is awakened suddenly. The cat is lying on his bed and is equally startled.
Cat Curios: The young Dr. Lewis (Taylor Kitsch) is given a home to live in while he is there. The home is gaudily furnished and includes several cat figurines and items. There is even a cat on the welcome cake. Unfortunately for Dr. Lewis, he is a dog person and not a cat person.
Final Mewsings: Cats do not fill their homes with people figurines.
Many thanks to Damian for letting us know about the cat in this film.
