Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Shelley Darlingson (Anna Faris) adjusts to life after being kicked out of the Playboy Mansion by becoming a Housemother to a ragtag group of sorority girls.

Kitty Cameo: Shelley wakes up the morning after her birthday and greets Marvin (Owen Benjamin) who has brought her breakfast. She then greets her long-haired gray cat named Pooter.

Pooter is wearing a pair of bunny ears and Shelley comments that he is looking dapper.

After reading Hugh Hefner’s note saying she must leave, Shelley climbs into her old station wagon to go. She calls to Pooter, who is lying on a nearby bench, to come with her but Pooter doesn’t move.

Marvin offers to get Pooter and goes to pick him up. Pooter struggles with Marvin and digs his claws into the man’s chest, hanging on for dear life.

Pooter is left hanging on Marvin’s chest and Marvin suggests he keep Pooter there until he calms down. Shelley leaves without her cat.

Later in her station wagon Shelley is looking at a picture of Pooter and promises him she will find them a good home.

Pooter is only seen briefly later in the film when Shelley returns to the mansion and is reunited with him in a long shot in the foyer. Shelley does not take Pooter with her when she later leaves.

Pooter was played by two Maine Coon cats named Cosmo and Stubs. Baby food was smeared on Owen Benjamin’s chest and you can see the cat actor licking it as he hangs from Marvin’s body.

Pooter is even featured on the DVD cover for the film despite only appearing briefly in a couple of scenes.

Final Mewsings: Cats don’t give up their lives of luxury easily.
