Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains MAJOR spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: The final battle against the Capitol proceeds and takes a terrible toll on both sides with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) setting out on her own personal mission.
Featured Feline: Buttercup, Primrose Everdeen’s (Willow Shields) mangy-looking orange cat appears one last time towards the end of the film when Katniss returns to the Victor’s Village in District 12. Katniss is alone in the house and hears a noise. She enters the kitchen where she sees Buttercup sitting on the counter.
Katniss screams that Prim is gone and throws some items at the cat in anger.
Buttercup does not move and Katniss breaks down, finally petting the cat.
She takes Buttercup in her arms and cries.
Various cats played Buttercup in the films with the different actors playing the cat in various moods. John portrayed Buttercup as a warrior. Orion played Buttercup when more mellow and loving. Buttercup as a whole won the American Humane Association’s 7th Annual Pawscar Award for Best Repurring Cat Performance.
Final Mewsings: It’s a good thing Katniss is not as accurate at throwing as she is at archery.
