Universal Pictures
Starring: Claude Rains, Gloria Stuart, William Harrigan
Directed by: James Whale
Synopsis: The classic adaptation of H.G. Wells’ story. Scientist Dr. Jack Griffin (Claude Rains) discovers a way to make himself invisible but goes insane when he cannot find a cure that will return him to his normal place in society.
Kitty Cameo: After the Invisible Man begins his reign of terror, the police are determined to catch him. The Chief Detective (Dudley Digges) devices a plan in which some of his officers are manned with spray guns filled with black paint. One of the officers is standing beside a wall when a white cat is seen walking on the other side.
The small white cat jumps to the top of the wall and walks around, knocking some dust down onto the officer’s head.
The officer overreacts, thinking it is the Invisible Man, and sprays the poor cat with the black paint, covering it almost completely. The cat understandably runs away.
Final Mewsings: Cats think it’s bad enough when people spray them with water!
Many thanks to T.J. Dotson for spotting this cat for us!
