Columbia Pictures Corporation
Starring: Timothy Bottoms, Cybill Shepherd
Directed by: Peter Bogdanovich
Synopsis: Larry McMurtry’s story of a small Texas town which is slowly dying and the young residents trying to find their place in the world.
Kitty Cameo: In one scene we see Jacy Farrow (Cybill Shepherd) at home in her room. She is lying on her bed petting a tabby cat.
Jacy’s mother comes in to talk to her for a while and Jacy moves to her vanity table. When her mother leaves, Jacy walks back over to the bed and roughly pushes the cat off before lying down. Director Peter Bogdanovich explained on the DVD’s commentary track that the cat was a last minute thought and put it specifically to be pushed off the bed at the end.
Final Mewsings: Cats shouldn’t have to bear the brunt of misdirected anger from frustrated teenagers.
