Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer
Starring: Oliver Hardy, Stan Laurel
Directed by: James Parrott
Synopsis: Laurel and Hardy see in a newspaper that the will of the late Ebeneezer Laurel, whose estate is worth $3 million, is scheduled to be read. What they don’t know is that the gathering of relatives is actually a ruse by a police inspector to try to determine the identity of Ebeneezer’s murderer. And, of course, to make the scene complete, the gathering of suspects takes place in the very scary Laurel mansion on a dark, rainy night.
Purr Blur: A hilarious moment happens when Laurel and Hardy go to bed in the room where Ebeneezer was found murdered in the cupboard. As they try to settle down to sleep they hear an ungodly screeching and the cupboard door opens, revealing two spots of light within. They hide under the covers and seconds later a black cat darts from the cupboard and races across their bed, leaving the duo in hysterics.
Final Mewsings: The black cat running out and scaring someone bit is priceless in the hands of these two comic geniuses.
