Synopsis: Mrs. Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) is living a picture-perfect life until her husband leaves her and she stumbles into the bawdy world of nightclub comics.
Kitty Cameo: In the pilot episode, Mrs. Maisel often accompanies her husband Joel (Michael Zegen) to a nightclub called The Gaslight Cafe where he performs stand up comedy. After he leaves her, she returns to the club to retrieve a Pyrex casserole dish. A longhair tortoiseshell cat walks along the bar when she arrives.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In the fourth episode entitled The Disappointment of the Dionne Quintuplets, Mrs. Maisel accompanies her manager Susie (Alex Borstein) to a record store called The Music Inn in search of some comedy albums. When they enter the store Mrs. Maisel stops to look in a bin next to a tuxedo cat. The cat sits calmly by as they discuss Bing Crosby.
As they move away, Mrs. Maisel pets the cat briefly.
The final episode of the first season, entitled Thank You and Good Night, takes place at Christmastime. Joel enters the record store looking for some party albums and passes the same tuxedo cat, this time wearing a Santa hat and beard!
The Music Inn is an actual store in New York City and reportedly the cat which appears in these episodes is the actual shop cat!
Final Mewsings: It’s no surprise that cats hang out in all the cool spots.
