The Medusa Touch (1978)

by Linda Kay

Directed by: Jack Gold

Synopsis: French Detective Brunel (Lino Ventura) attempts to discover who nearly killed cynical writer John Morlar (Richard Burton), a man obsessed with the idea that he can bring about death and destruction at will.

Purr Blurs: In a flashback scene, Morlar’s henpecked neighbor Pennington (Robert Lang) is being harangued by his screechy wife (Avril Elgar) over what she interprets to be a rotten fish he has brought home for dinner. Two brown tabby cats tolerate the woman’s shouting with much the same laid back attitude as her husband.

It’s amazing the woman’s high pitched screaming doesn’t shatter the Siamese cat statue on the piano behind her!

Final Mewsings: Both cats and milquetoast husbands have sensitive ears.
