Synopsis: An animated adaptation of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King utlizing music from Tchaikovsky’s ballet.

Cartoon Cat: While the story told here remains mostly faithful to the original, the ballet music takes a backseat and some liberties are taken.  One of these is the addition of a pet kitten for Clara named Pavlova.

The kitten is seen throughout most of the film, tagging along with Clara through her adventures.

Pavlova is left behind for much of the last third of the film but her parts before then are fairly cute if not too directly connected to the plot.

Final Mewsings: Animated kittens make good sidekicks.
