Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Lobbyist Leah Vaughn (Sanaa Lathan) breaks up with her boyfriend of two years and ends up dating a mysterious man named Carter (Michael Ealy) who seems too good to be true.
Featured Feline: Leah owns an orange tabby cat named Rusty. We first see Rusty when Leah is bent down by some bushes outside her home getting the hidden spare key from a fake rock.
Rusty is still walking on the path as Leah and Carter head inside.
Later Rusty is present when Carter uses the key to get into Leah’s home. Rusty watches from a counter as Carter roams around the home and breaks into Leah’s computer.
When Leah returns home she cannot find Rusty. That is because Carter took him to his place.
Rusty remains missing and Leah thinks he may have been eaten by coyotes. She knows the truth when Lost posters with pictures of her and Rusty show up all around her neighborhood without her knowledge.
Late in the film Leah is being proactive in dealing with Carter, who has become a dangerous stalker. She breaks into his place and finds Rusty.
Rusty is not seen after this but at least the cat didn’t become one of Carter’s fatal victims. The cat actor playing Rusty works for Steve Berens Animals of Distinction.
Final Mewsings: Nice to see the cat live for a change!
