Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A waiter (Charlie Chaplin) serves patrons in a café and then flirts with a girl (Edna Purviance) in a roller skating rink.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): At the beginning of the film The Girl is seen with her Father (James T. Kelley) at home. A white fluffy kitten is sitting on the sleeping man’s chest while the man’s daughter dangles a wad of something on a string for the kitten to play with.
The Father awakens when the kitten starts batting at his face.
The Father gets up and the Daughter picks up the kitten and holds it before setting it down on a couch.
Kitty Cameo: Later in the film the Waiter is getting ready to serve someone as the Cook (Albert Austin) scolds him. The Waiter doesn’t see the tabby cat eating on the food tray and covers it with a cloche.
The Waiter takes the tray out to a customer who is surprised when the cloche is removed, revealing the cat. The cat runs away.
Final Mewsings: Cats like to be served but not to others.
