Synopsis: Jean Renoir’s biting satire about class examines the interactions between the rich and their household staff

Kitty Cameo: The head of the manor plans a big hunt and so the game warden Schumacher (Gaston Modot) surveys the grounds with his men in preparation. They come across a cage trap which has caught a black cat. “It’s that pest of a miller’s cat,” one says, “He’s a real nuisance.”

Kitty Carnage Warning! The men release the cat, which runs to the right. Schumacher raises his gun and aims, following the supposed path of the cat in the other direction before firing. “He’s no nuisance now,” he states.
