Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Simon Templar aka The Saint (Roger Moore) tries to help a village in Wales find out what kind of creatures are attacking the locals.
Kitty Cameo: Simon finds out that there are local scientists conducting experiments by a Dr. Sardon (Anthony Bate) at a house on a cliff which is known as Dragon’s Rock. Dr. Sardon’s niece, Carmen (Annette Andre) meets Simon but isn’t sure at first if she wants to help him. When Carmen returns to the house, we see a gray cat sitting on a chair.
Later Carmen does decide to help Simon and gets him into the house. After looking around the lab with Dr. Sardon’s permission, Simon and Carmen walk back into main room. The cat is seen on a rug at Carmen’s feet.
Carmen picks up the cat and follows Simon to the front door. Just before he leaves he boops the cat’s nose ever so slightly.
Later Carmen overhears her Uncle’s nefarious plans. Dr. Sardon and his assistant Armstrong (Alex Scott) hear something crash in the other room and go running. The cat is seen next to a broken plant.
Dr. Sardon picks up the cat and says, “Getting a bit clumsy in our old age, aren’t we, Precious?” He then sets the cat down on the back of the nearby chair. The cat doesn’t play any specific role in the show except maybe to misdirect the viewer from guessing the real monster, which is a giant ant that Dr. Sardon has created.
Final Mewsings: Precious just hopes Dr. Sardon won’t create gigantic fleas!
