Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Colonel Dante Matucci (Franco Nero) investigates a series of murders which all point to a possible fascist plot to overthrow the Italian government.
Purr Blurs: In one scene Matucci is picking up a woman named Lili Anders (Sybil Danning). Three cats are seen sitting around his car as he waits.
Featured Feline: One of the people Matucci is working with to unravel the plot is his older brother Captain Steffanelli (Martin Balsam). Steffanelli owns a ginger tabby cat whose name is never mentioned.
The cat is seen in a few scenes with Steffanelli. In one the cat is sitting nearby as Steffanelli is talking on the phone to Matucci. Matucci asks him to, “Kiss the cat for me.”
The cat makes an appearance at the end of a very dramatic scene between Steffanelli and Matucci with quiet, plaintiff meows emphasizing the drama.
At the end of the film, Steffanelli has been killed and the cat hasn’t been seen or mentioned since. But lo and behold, when Matucci climbs into his car to drive away, there is the cat on the passenger seat!
Final Mewsings: We love it when cats aren’t forgotten at the end of the movie!
Many thanks to Nick Wale for letting us know about the cats in this film!
