New Animal Productions
Directed by: Nicole Rittenmeyer, Seth Skundrick
Synopsis: Made for The History Channel, this is a compelling and disturbing look at the rise and fall of Hitler’s Third Reich as seen through the eyes (and home movie cameras) of the German people and other first-hand witnesses.
Purr Blur: In the first part which documents the rise of the Third Reich, there is a cat seen walking up an empty German street while the narrator talks about the state of Germany after the first World War.
Reality Cat: The second part of the documentary focuses on the downfall of the Third Reich. One of the German families whose home movies were featured included a lovely cat which was first seen climbing up and down a ladder and later sitting beside a table.
Later more movies are shown from this same family at Christmas time. The cat is seen laying on the table as a woman spreads a tablecloth. The cat is later seen chewing at a small Christmas tree.
Final Mewsings: Our thanks to the filmmakers for including the shots of the cats in this very important documentary.
