Original Air Date: February 7, 1969
Starring: Robert Conrad, Alan Hale Jr.
Directed by: Charles Rondeau
Synopsis: James West (Robert Conrad) is asked by his rival Sanatini (Ted de Corsia) to make sure a girl named Sylvia (Jill Townsend) gets what he is leaving her after his death.
Kitty Cameo: Jim’s guest sidekick for this episode is Ned Brown (Alan Hale Jr.) While Jim is investigating elsewhere, Ned goes to a cemetary to look for a Madonna statue which may yield some clues. As Ned enters the cemetery he hears a cat meow. Looking down, he sees the tabby at his feet.
Ned picks up the cat and pats its face, asking if he’s seen any statues of the Madonna around.
Amazingly enough Ned holds on to the cat when he sees and approaches the Nolan crypt.
Ned even continues to hold the cat while lighting a candle.
Ned then takes the cat inside the crypt with him.
Once inside the crypt, Ned sets the cat down and it wanders off.
A few moments later Ned hears the cat screech. The tabby runs out of the crypt, crying out all the way. No reason is ever given for the cat’s sudden departure but it does direct Ned’s attention to a clue.
Final Mewsings: Cats prefer being left where they are.
