Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigate a possible sea monster at the height of a hurricane on the Florida coast.
Featured Feline: The story begins in the home of the Shipleys who are being attacked by an unseen entity. As the mother and son try to tip over a washing machine, the boy spots their tabby cat, Reggie, hiding behind the machine.
When Mulder and Scully arrive at the house, something is banging on the lid from inside the washing machine. Mulder opens the lid with a broom handle and Reggie pops out in true spring-loaded cat fashion.
Reggie has another spring-loaded moment when the agents are being held by an inept deputy, distracting the man’s attention long enough for Mulder to get the man’s gun.
The deputy drives from the Shipley’s to a nearby condominium, unaware that Reggie has stowed along underneath the car.
In the end Mulder is attacked by the monster and fighting for his life when he sees Reggie sitting outside in the rain. This gives Mulder the information he needs to stay alive.
It’s very likely that this is the same cat actor who played Monty in the Stuart Little movies.
Final Mewsings: Pay attention to cats, they know what they’re doing!
