Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: A shadowy globe-trotting ring of jewel thieves masterminded by slippery Anthony Hugh Swinburne (Robert Douglas) is relentlessly pursued by an equally shadowy group of fedora-wearing globe-trotting government agents led by square and steadfast Peter Duncan (Lin McCarthy). Complications ensue when one of the thieves, Martin Gresham (Ronald Howard), becomes romantically entangled with lovely Helen Coleman (Suzanne Lloyd), the sister of one of his murder victims.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In his haberdashery shop which serves as a cover for illegal activities, after a strategy session with Swinburne, Martin Gresham glances at his cat on the stair rail as he ascends the steps to his living quarters on the upper floor.
Mild Kitty Carnage Warning! Later in the episode, Peter Duncan leads a nighttime raid on the shop and, in the dark, unwittingly steps on the cat resting on the stairs – a tried and true trope for this type of story – and its resultant cry of complaint belatedly alerts Gresham in his upstairs bedroom. (The actual step on the cat is not shown.)
This could possibly be another television appearance by a member of the Orangey cat team but we have no confirmation of that at this time.
Final Mewsings: If you need a reliable alarm system, get a German Shepherd, not a cat!
