Synopsis: As the 1940s approach, British reporter David Charleston (Michael Redgrave) tries to alert the public to the political unrest that he believes is leading to another war with Germany, but no one listens to him. Disillusioned, David retires to a small town in the American Midwest, where he works as a lighthouse watchman.
Kitty Cameo: During his time as a journalist, Davis is seen at an outdoor table at a restaurant in pre-war France trying to convince some complacent locals of his fears for the future. The scene starts with a shot of a contented tabby cat sleeping soundly at the base of a tree next to the table. The man sitting at the table is also sleeping.
Final Mewsings: Even an impending World War can’t spoil a cat nap.
