Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: In the early 1900’s British archaeologist Professor Aitken (Donald Bisset) hires Captain Daniels (Shane Rimmer) to take him, Aitken’s son Charles (Peter Gilmore) and engineer Greg Collinson (Doug McClure) in search of the lost city of Atlantis.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Captain Daniels keeps an unnamed Siamese cat on board the ship.
After discovering a treasure, some crew members decide to stage a mutiny. But a giant octopus from below shows up and the cat beats a hasty retreat.
Everyone except for the injured Professor Aitken, Sandy (Ashley Knight) the cabin boy, and the cat, are kidnapped by the sea monster and taken below the ocean to Atlantis. On board the ship, Professor Aitken warns Sandy about the Warlords of Atlantis. The cat, who is sitting nearby, does not seem too impressed.
Eventually the others escape Atlantis and return to the ship, but so does the octopus. As the monster starts to rip the ship apart, Sandy manages to grab the cat.
As the crew fight the octopus and each other the Siamese tries to hide in the crook of Sandy’s arm.
The ship is finally destroyed but the survivors, including the cat, escape in a lifeboat.
Final Mewsings: Cats are happy to be left out of undersea adventures.
